Edge - GPRS Equalization in 2.5G Telecommunications Theory and Implementation Using MSC8101/MSC8102

Tuesday,14 May 2002 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m in Walu.

EDGE introduced a feature that extends 2G GSM telecommunications systems to provide enhanced, or faster, data rates (2.5G) and is an evolution toward providing 3G services. This new modulation scheme, 8 Phase Shift Keying (8PSK) with 3pi/8 offset, allows the bit rate of GSM to be improved by a factor of three. This session reviews the basic theory of channel equalization, and presents various sub-optimum algorithms. Practical issues are illustrated using an MSC8101/MSC8102 channel equalization implementation, and speed/accuracy tradeoffs are discussed.

Light refreshments will be served during this workshop.

One MSC8101 Development System will be given to a lucky attendee from the academic world.

Registration for this workshop is now closed.
